Are you looking to install a fire pit to bring warmth and comfort to outdoor meet ups in the garden but not sure what you need and what will work in your outdoor space? We have a quick guide to help with some of those initial decisions.
Balcony and Small courtyard garden
When space is at a premium that does not mean you can’t have the benefit of a fire to keep you warm on chilly days on long summer evenings.
The ideal fire pit for you would be a Hemi 26”. In a smaller setting we would recommend using bio fuel, which eliminates the need to any pipework and no need to find extra space to store an LPG tank.
Relaxed Seating Area
The height of outdoor sofas and armchairs pairs perfectly with both our Elevated Halo and Hemi fire pits. Both of which are coffee table height and have the dual function to work as a coffee table when using the metal table top or hard wood table top when the fire pit is not in use.
Both these fire pits have the option of LPG fuel, natural gas and bio fuel. Using a fire pit in an outdoor seating area gives more flexibility in concealing pipework. Pipework can be concealed behind or underneath the furniture or if planning ahead the pipework be run under decking and stonework. Thinking of where the LPG tank goes? LPG tanks area available in a variety of sizes, so you can create bespoke screening for the LPG tank; conceal it in a box made from your decking with ventilation or screen with planting.
Outdoor Dining Area
For outdoor dining we would recommend our linear fire pit, they are our thinnest fire pit allowing the maximum amount of space for seating and they can be joined end to end ensuring the whole dining area is heating. The linear lends itself particularly to a commercial outdoor space as it also creates a fantastic divider between areas.
We recognise that there are a multitude of things to consider when installing a fire pit, we have more guidance in our FAQS and we are on hand to answer your queries if you are thinking of installing a fire pit.

Whilst we were lucky with the weather last year, this is not guaranteed so any design needs to allow for protection from the rain. We’ve put together a shopping list for you to create this space at home this winter.

Solus Decor took the opportunity to visit the world renowned show in Paris and gain some outdoor living inspiration from the wealth of exhibitors.
Every year in January Paris becomes a hub for designers, architects and suppliers for commercial and residential design as they descend on the beautiful city of Paris for the Maison & Objet trade show held at the Parc des Exposition in Villepinte. The exhibition runs for 5 days and given the scale many would say that you need full 5 days to ensure you don’t miss out. For the duration of the 5 days Parc Des Exposition becomes home to more than 3,000 exhibitors making it a perfect melting pot of designers and brands from around the world to meet and connect.
We visited the world renowned Maison & Objet in Paris for inspiration and research, taking a look at what’s going on in the Design world for 2017. We have put together a selection of our highlights from the world of outdoor living that we discovered at the show.
Above is a small selection of the great furniture that can be used for both the interior and exterior by the Danish brand; Sika Design. They had a great selection of furniture, which is both stylish and practical for the indoor/outdoor lifestyle and in doing so create the perfect cohesion between the interior and exterior. The Parisian style cafe chairs were of course a big hit!
Outdoor Living Inspiration
The Exteta stand was a big draw at the show with their exceptional stand, which created an inviting space for visitors to relax. Already familiar with the Italian brand it was a great opportunity to see their new collections and look at their outdoor living concepts. To see more of the wonderful Exteta Range click here
Concrete Design and Inspiration
Of course we couldn’t miss the opportunity to see what others are doing with concrete so we took the opportunity to gain some inspiration from others who value the concepts of concrete as much as we do at Solus Decor with our hand cast concrete fire and water features. Here are our some of our favourites from the show featuring lighting by Opjet Paris and Kast Concrete Basins.
While in Paris we couldn’t resist exploring one of their own great outdoor spaces at Parc des Buttes Chaumont, featuring great elements of water and landscaping.
